Sam defined “intranet-in-a-box” as a set of code libraries that can be installed quickly and are immediately ready-to-go. These solutions have standardized requirements and the vendor takes care of implementation and maintenance.

The guests also stressed the importance of gathering your requirements and identifying stakeholders ahead of time, as this makes it easier to determine if you have the resources and the bandwidth to build your own solution, or if you should start researching vendors. They recommended looking for vendors with long-term reputability who can offer customization, mobile responsiveness, and a free demo. You also want to make sure your intranet (whether built or bought) can integrate with Office 365 as it releases new features.
